European Giant Vegetable Grower's Association

Welcome

Welcome to the EGVGA, the site for European growers of giant vegetables.

The European Giant Vegetable Grower's Association was organized in 2008 to promote the hobby of growing giant vegetables, including pumpkins and squash.

Its aim is to provide information to all growers, document giant vegetables and award growers of outstanding specimens.

The EGVGA provides not only growing information, but also guidelines for weigh-offs, seed packages for members, digital newsletters and weigh-off results.

If you are not a member, please join us and reap the benefits. Information can be found on the member's page. You don't have to live in Europe to be a member.

Newsletter

The November issue of the EGVGA newsletter has been sent. If you are a member and didn't get it, please email us!

Seeds

EGVGA members,

Please send your seeds this year to the following address:

Brad J. Wursten

Holtenerstraat 12

8061 ZH Hasselt

Netherlands

If possible, please pre-package your seeds. One seed per package, or 2-3 seeds for sunflowers and tomatoes.

No pumpkin seeds under 250 kg (500 lbs). No pumpkin or squash seeds open pollinated.

You can send 1 up to 150 seeds per kind. For smaller pumpkins we suggest 20-40 seeds and for bigger ones (400 kg+) as many as you can.

NEW EUROPEAN PUMPKIN RECORD

Congratulations to Mehdi Daho of France for his European record pumpkin. The pumpkin weighed 1611 lbs and was weighed at Kasterlee, Belgium. It beat the old record of 1457 lbs grown by Ian and Stuart Paton of England.

European Seed Contest Winner

And the winner of the European seed contest is JOS GHAYE of Belgium. He grew the largest pumpkin off of a 2008 European seed. His 1264 lb pumpkin was grown off of his own 1058 seed from last year.
